Marvel Phase 4 Revealed

By Erika San Diego

Many of us Marvel fans were shocked at the storyline of Avengers: Endgame, as it left us all wanting more. In San Diego Comic con, Kevin Feige finally released the Marvel 4 line up! Many of the movies and TV shows were based on comic book characters that fans have been wanting to see for a long time. Unfortunately, most of the movies/TV shows are set in 2020 and 2021, but this doesn’t make it any less exciting.

The first movie to hit the big screen is the very anticipated Black Widow solo movie! This is set to be released on the 1st of May 2020. This prequel is set to take place between Civil War and Avengers: Infinity war, and it most likely will flashback to Black Widow’s dark past, as well as giving us an insight to what happened in Budapest.

Another part of Marvel phase 4 will be a Falcon and Winter Solider TV series. We will see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles in this series. A big spoiler about this series is the logo, it sports a very Captain America like design, hinting that the Falcon may have a continued storyline from Avengers: Endgame, of Cap passing his shield, and duty onto the falcon. It is set to be on Disney plus in Fall 2020.

A few other TV series set to be on Disney plus, is WandaVision, which will surprisingly have a storyline set after Avengers: Endgame, even though Vision is dead. It will be interesting to see what they do with this. It is set to be on Disney plus in Spring 2021. A Hawkeye series will also be on Disney plus in Fall 2021, Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye, and will be passing his torch onto his daughter, Kate Bishop. Another series set in Marvel phase 4 will be Loki. This will premier in Spring 2021, the same time as WandaVision. This will be interesting as most fans will be curious to know what happened to him after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The last TV show in Marvel phase 4 will be an animated series called What If? It will be voiced by the big cast of actors that are in the Marvel Universe. The show will show alternate ways of how things could have turned out in the MCU, this will be released in Summer 2021.

A number of movies will be coming out in 2020 and 2021. This includes The Eternals, a group of beings that use their powers to protect humans in the future. This will come out on November 6th, 2020. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten rings, who is a legendary Kung Fu master, will come out on February 12th, 2021. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, coming out on May 7th, 2021, will dive more into the concept of the multiverse and the directors are hoping to make this first Marvel horror movie. Thor: Love and Thunder will come out on November 5th, 2021 – this film will officially be introducing a female Thor! Natalie Portman will be playing this role, as she played Jane foster in Thor.

Lastly, a Blade reboot will be coming as an additional project for Marvel. This is quite an old movie, and Marvel will finally be rebooting it, but this doesn’t have a confirmed release date. Some additional movies that fan theorise to see is a Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, a second Black Panther, and Kevin Feige says that he didn’t have time to address where the Fantastic Four or X-Men would end up in the franchise, but fans hopefully wait for the X-Men to be introduced to the MCU, and maybe even a Fantastic Four reboot. This has in fact happened before, because even though Marvel didn’t announce movies such as Spiderman Homecoming, it was still released.

A recap:

Black Widow (May 1st, 2020), Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Fall 2020), The Eternals (November 6th, 2020), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (February 12, 2021), WandaVision (Spring 2021), Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (May 7th, 2021), Loki (Spring 2021), What If (Summer 2021), Hawkeye (Fall 2021), and Thor: Love and Thunder (November 5th, 2021).
