Ranking Every Article I've Ever Written

As my Normo journey comes to an end, so does my work in The Mary Word. I’ve been an on and off member since 2021 and have written so many articles I’ve lost track. In here I will include my first ever article and some articles that marked moments in my Loreto journey. I still remember the days where The Mary Word was in the Curran, then Level 2 GBC and now we all find comfort in the 70s rooms.

I am going to break each rating into 3 categories all out of 10 with a small sentence review;

  1. Content

  2. Research

  3. Creativity

But before I get started, I want to thank The Mary Word, especially Mr Scali, for allowing me to express myself in a creative form that not many other schools offer. The Mary Word means so much to me and I am so sad to be leaving it behind. Without further ado, here is my last word.

My First ever article - March 5th 2021

Collaborative with Eugenia Yoon - Significant Women Who Graduated From Loreto Normanhurst

Content: 8/10 - There are some really interesting facts and it is sorted so well into categories, but it’s lowkey short.

Research: 10/10 - I vividly remember going into such intricate detail to get this done, I was locked in on Wikipedia, and even these people’s own personal websites and articles.

Creativity: 10/10 - I’ve never seen an article like this before and I think it was a really great idea. A big pat on the back to Eugenia and I in Year 7!

Overall: 9.5/10 - This article is nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be, but I am not taking all the credit because Eugenia helped so much.

10 Books You Need to Read

Content: 7/10 - The detail is great, but where are the pictures Year 7 me? I would’ve been bored  reading this as an editor because most of it is just copy and pasted Goodreads descriptions.

Research: 9/10 - I went to the effort of going through every single Goodreads page, and I commend my past self for that. This is what I did instead of studying, hence the less than flattering report at the time.

Creativity: 5/10 - To be fair this is a good article but I have seen SO MANY books to read articles and it is starting to hurt my soul. Also basically everyone of these books is so cliche it’s not even funny.

Overall: 7/10 - This article is so funny to me because I hadn’t even read half of these books, I literally think I just went on my kindle through my TBR and pretended that I had read them. At least now I’ve read most of them, and can review my own review.

Sadly after 2021, I was on and off in The Mary Word and didn’t publish another article (that I can find) until 2024.

Real Talk with Mary Ward Episode 1 - Future Forecasts (PODCAST)

Content: 6/10 - Not a massive fan of this article. Sometimes I feel it’s a bit cringy. Also what was I thinking with that cover!

Research: 10/10 - I went into so much depth, and my ideas with the easter eggs were very well thought out. I am no longer a Swiftie, but I can tell I knew what I was talking about here.

Creativity: 10/10 - This was a great idea for an article! Also, using the form of a podcast is so rare these days, and I really hope in future years the Editors in Chiefs sell this method of creativity more. It sounds so fun to make a podcast with your friends - start early, then you can do an episode every issue (it’s too late for me now, sadly).

Overall: 7/10 - I commend my creativity and overall idea, however I don’t really like how I wrote this. It’s a bit cliched, although kudos to my Year 9 self for having way too much confidence.

December 1st 2024

Christmas Movie Marathon

Content: 10/10 - Despite the lack of detail, this article gets a 10/10 for the use of the knee surgery meme. I LOL’ed because I haven’t heard that in so long, and I’ve missed it!

Research: 2/10 - Hate to say it, but there is no research, I wrote a list of movies and called it a day. Come on Mackenzie, lock in!

Creativity: 2/10 - To be honest, I’ve seen so many movie marathon ideas and it gets old. There are way better things I could’ve written, like niche movies or something cool. But good work to me for finding 25 movies. Also kudos to the cover art.

Overall: 7/10 - Not my worst article ever but I didn’t put in that much effort. That's all I have to say. The only reason it's more than 5 is because of the knee surgery meme.

December 1st 2024

Back to School (Glow-Up Guide)

Content: 5/10 Not my finest hour. Why did I start it like that? Cliched again! A bit awkward re-reading it because I may have thought I was cool when writing this. Where’s my glow up at, Year 10 Mackenzie? But it has great content though, so a 5.

Research: 8/10 - Great depth, and goes into detail on skincare which is commendable. This is probably the best part of the article because I did such good research.

Creativity: 9/10 - I haven’t seen an article like this since and I commend myself for coming up with this. It’s pretty cliched and gives influencer vibes, but I think it’s a great article idea for the end of year issue.

Overall: 7/10 - Overall a good article, but I can’t get over the fact I signed it off, and some of my wording choices.

I am now going to skip the rest of 2024 and move onto the best article I have ever written that I am so so proud of!

MY FAVOURITE ARTICLE EVER - February 10th 2025

The 2025 Scammy’s: Proof the Grammy’s are Rigged

Content: 10/10 - I explored my idea so well, and to this day I still get ragebaited when I read this because I am so mad that Billie didn’t win Best Album for HMHAS as it was too good. I could write a crash out article right now for this!

Research: 10/10 - The research is clearly shown; an interview, proof from other articles and more. Insane. Like what do you mean the Grammy Chief said it was rigged?

Creativity: 10/10 -  How did I even come up with this? (Probably because I was so mad about Billie not winning!). Anyways, this is so creative and I have never seen anything like this before, and am so proud of Year 11 me.

Overall: 10/10 - Hands down the best article I have ever written! I highly recommend going through this and reading it because I go into so much detail on how it is truly rigged, which will help you to get over your other favourite artists being robbed!

April 6th 2025

The Concert Survival Guide

Content: 10/10 - The way it’s split into sections works really well. Also, the detail within those is really good, and makes me happy.

Research: 8/10 - I fear I didn’t do much research, but personal experience is still super reliable, which makes me believe my research is good.

Creativity: 9/10 - There aren’t many articles like this, and I wish there was, because concerts are so fun and need more Mary Word representation!

Overall: 9/10 - Great article overall! Super handy, and I still have this in my notes app to this day for pre-concert prep.

SAME ISSUE COLLABORATIVE

Music that Represents Different Eras/Events (With Ainsley and Ava)

Content: 9.5/10 - Great detail, and explored each era/event in such great detail, and each song works so perfectly to each one.

Research: 10/10 - You can tell that we knew what we were talking about because each song is so perfect and I’m so proud of it.

Creativity: 10/10 - I have never thought about or seen an article like this ever, and for this I commend Ainsley and Ava for the great idea (I just joined in).

Overall: 10/10 - Great article overall, and people should make more articles like this with music (Music Fest next year peoples!).

November 12 2025

What wasn’t on our 2025 Bingo Card?

Content: 9/10 - I included most things that happened in 2025, however I wish I did more than just pop culture, and extended upon this to address a more topical issue within contemporary political or media spheres.

Research: 10/10 - I literally have a bibliography, that is proof I did some crazy research! Also you can lowkey tell in my descriptions, which is good!

Creativity: 10/10 - Great idea, and I hope someone does this for 2026 because I love it a lot - also kudos to me for the cover cause I am proud of that!

Overall: 9.5/10 - Love everything in this article, especially the Louvre Heist, just because my Drama GP group did this).

February 13 2026

12 Movies to Watch Before You Graduate Year 12

Content: 10/10 - This makes me so sad to read, because what do you mean I graduate so soon and this all comes to an end? But these movies are SO good, and I highly recommend every single one, especially as graduation draws closer (makes me cry everytime)!

Research: 9/10 - Went into perfect detail about each movie, however I just wish that I had a more personal take on these, but to be fair I hadn’t watched all of these movies at this time (and I am still rushing to catch up before grad!).

Creativity: 10/10 - Great idea, and I believe that everyone should write more articles about movies because there are not enough! Also, see my other article inspired by the Perks of Being a Wallflower but from the perspective of a Normo Girl!

Overall: 10/10 - I love this article a lot, and I need to rush and watch these before high school is over, as I’ll never get to relate to these ever again (I shed a tear writing that)!

March 30th 2026

Niche music = bad music

Content: 10/10 - I was sassy in the intro, but I love all of the bands and artists in this article, and do believe that niche music is so good. But to be fair I only listen to niche music when I am in the mood to do so.

Research: 9/10 - I lowkey just wrote what I already knew about them, so not much research except for some bands I don’t really listen to. But the fact some of these are so niche shows what side of tiktok I am on!

Creativity: 10/10 - No one ever really writes about their own niche tastes, usually articles try to show a broader opinion, but I like being able to write about what I am interested in rather than what other people are into.

Overall: 9/10 - Good article, I just wish I did a comparison to pop or something like that to show that the lyrics are just as good!

Graduation

This Article

Overall: 10/10 - I will miss The Mary Word so much, and can’t believe it is coming to an end. Super excited for the new team to take over, and I wish them the best of luck for Term 4 and into 2027! Look after The Mary Word for us. Also, to the younger years, make the most of high school. Don’t wish it away, because it truly does go too fast. Oh yeah, and join The Mary Word!
