Mary Word's Favourite Subjects

The Mary Word has grown in size over the years, and gained many different types of people. This begs an important question; “Which subjects do The Mary Word students enjoy the most?”. To answer this, a survey was conducted to record the student body’s favourite subjects. This will show the current newspaper's opinions on our school subjects, and maybe give the school a few hints as to which departments to increase funds for! (Just kidding). This article also to commemorate the Year 12’s departure as a way to specially shout out their favourite subjects.

Prediction

I believe that The Mary Word caters to all audiences, but however, if there were to be a bias, I think students would lean towards Music or Drama. Many people that I’ve spoken to in the newspaper embrace creativity and oratory subjects, especially since the newspaper itself is a creative extra-curricular. (I personally would swear on Drama and Design Tech). From my interviews, I can confidently say that I don’t think there’ll be many people choosing subjects like Maths and Integrated. Thus, I’m intrigued and excited to see what the students believe the best subjects to be.

Results

I must say, I’m pretty shocked. Like I had assumed, there was a lean to humanities and creative subjects; English, Art, Music, and Textiles being the most popular, but there seems to be a fair sprinkling of STEM subjects. Personally, I can relate to the early childhood entry as I love the subject, but I was fairly shocked to see Integrated.

Taking a closer look, one can really see a variety of different opinions. One person might hate one subject, but the next person might love it. From experience, I used to hate Design Tech but now it’s my favourite subject, so you never really know! It’s truly heartwarming to see that everyone in our small group has different opinions yet can still work so well together. Diversity is what makes the Mary Word beautiful and collaborative.

In conclusion, I hope that the Year 12’s had fun thinking about all the subjects they love at this school before they leave our school to go onward and inspire others. See you in the next article!
