Wrapped With Love

Written by Caitlin O'Callaghan

I’m sure by now everyone has heard the countless announcements over the loudspeaker and seen the endless emails from the social justice team about ‘Wrapped with Love’.

Whenever winter comes around at Loreto Normanhurst, it is almost instinctual to have Wrapped with Love at the forefront of our minds.

But why?

Why does everyone rush down to the Curran Theatre during Friday lunches, just to watch Modern Family and do some knitting? Well…

There are currently 105,237 people in Australia who are homeless and about 10% of the world’s population live below the poverty line

Wrapped with love is a generous not-for-profit organisation that helps provide warm blankets to the homeless. It relies solely on the donation of knitted items from people like us.Even though we may not be the fastest knitters in the world, Loreto encourages the community to try and help to knit because we truly believe that every square can help to make a difference.

Since 1992, we (at Wrapped with Love) have wrapped more than 414,000 people with love and warmth, both in Australia and around the world. We deliver aid to needy countries, some experiencing extreme poverty or natural disasters and some involved in war - wrappedwithlove.org
